“I don’t believe that people should be exhausted after a movement class; if they do, it might indicate that they have gone beyond what serves them. I think people should feel energized and relaxed after attending an exercise class.”

ZENZERO is situated between Cape Town's vibrant Long Street and trendy Heritage Square. The modern studio in serene white exclusively offers Body Intelligence®, a modified version of Pilates. The emphasis in these classes is on the recognition and improvement of neuro-muscular patterning. Body Intelligence® is a movement form developed by Meret Storck-Matchett, owner and founder of ZENZERO Cape Town. In the course of the last seven years, working closely with physiotherapists and chiropractors, she continuously adapted her Pilates repertoire in line with new research in the field of joint stabilization techniques. Another major factor in the development of this movement form is her 15 years of yoga experience. Meret has recognized the importance of incorporating some modified yoga poses into her classes to add an element of relaxation as well as some deep stretching to the repertoire, which is often neglected or omitted altogether in most traditional Pilates classes. Classes at ZENZERO are limited to a maximum of 12 students, thus ensuring that the instructors are able to focus on each of the participants. This allows you to attain your individual goals much more efficiently and is especially reassuring if you are pregnant or have had a troublesome injury. Alignment and movement control are emphasized rather than encouraging mindless repetition. The objective is to establish healthy neuromuscular patterns, to realign the body and to avoid pain and strain. Visit www.zenzero.co.za for more information.
